I completed my honours research on the
metabolic energy expenditure of embryos of the viviparous lizard Eulamprus tympanum,in 1999. My PhD was completed in
2004, investigating the first case of temperature-dependent sex determination (TSD) in a viviparous lizard, following the
accidental discovery of the phenomenon as part of my honours project. I then spent 2 years as a postdoctoral fellow at
Iowa State University examining life history stratergies in the Western terrestrial garter snake, Thamnophis elegans from
adjoining ecotypes. I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Western Australia studying the mechanism and
adaptive advantage of sex allocation in Tammar wallabies.
