Equestrian Pursuits
Growing up living on a racecourse (Dad was a racecourse manager) led to an equine
addiction.....
I have lived and worked around horses all my life. From a young age I worked in racing stables and with
the clerk of the course horses (the grey horses that lead the racehorses to the barriers on race day & catch the runaways).
I have a strong attachment to Ming Dynasty (now sadly deceased) who after many years of pestering everyone, I finally got
to ride as clerk of the course on the major racedays (Sydney Cup, Epsom Cup, Doncaster Derby etc). It was a huge thrill to
complete the gallop down the straight after the sydney cup field (although I did find pulling up a bit hard). Ming Dynasty
was a very special horse and admired by many not only as a champion racehorse but as a clerk of the course and gentle aristocratic
old man!
